Bitter gourd beef recipe

Ingredients /nutrition

  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp chopped ginger
  • 1 tsp chopped salted black beans
  • 1 tsp chopped chilies
  • 220 g thinly sliced bitter gourd
  • 80 g thinly sliced beef
  • 1/4 onion, cut into wedges
  • 3 stalks sliced scallion, white part only
  • 8 slices carrot
  • 2 tsp Chinese cooking wine
  • 1/4 cup chicken stock
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp tapioca flour mixed with 2 tbsp water

Methods / instructions

  1. Heat up oil in a wok and stir fry garlic, ginger, black bean and chilies until fragrant.
  2. Stir in bitter gourd for 2 minutes and add remaining ingredients.
  3. Simmer until gravy thickens.
  4. Serve hot with boiled fragrant rice.
