Herbal pork soup (bak kut teh) recipe

Ingredients /nutrition

  • 1/2 kg spareribs, cut into bite size pieces
  • 150 g pork, cut into bite size pieces
  • 1 packet Bak Kut Teh spices
  • 7 garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp thick soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 l water
  • 2 pcs diced soy bean cakes
  • 1 pc bean curb stick, soaked to soften, cut into pieces
  • salt to taste
  • 10 pork balls
  • 6 mushrooms, removed stems, soaked to soften

Methods / instructions

  1. Place spareribs in a boiling water to remove blood smell.
  2. Place spareribs and remaining ingredients in a claypot and bring to boil.
  3. Reduce heat and gently simmer for 45 minutes.
  4. Serve hot with rice and crullers if desired.
