Braised pineapple spare ribs recipe

Ingredients /nutrition

  • 800 g spare ribs, cut into bite size pieces
  • 2 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp corn flour
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 2 cups oil for deep frying
  • 3/4 tbsp chopped garlic
  • 1/2 pineapple, cut into cubes
  • 180 ml tomato sauce
  • 55 ml chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 500 ml water

Methods / instructions

  1. Combine the first 5 ingredients in a bowl and cover with cling film.
  2. Allow to stand for 4 hours in refrigerator.
  3. Heat up oil and deep fry spare ribs until cooked and golden brown.
  4. Remove from heat and drain on kitchen paper towel.
  5. Leave 1 tbsp oil in pan and saute remaining ingredients.
  6. Stir in spare ribs, bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer gently for 1/2 hour.
  7. Serve immediately.
