Steamed ginseng chicken recipe

Ingredients /nutrition

  • 1 chicken
  • 4 dried chestnuts, soaked in water for 30 minutes and drained
  • 4 baby potatoes
  • 4 dried red dates
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 slice ginger
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 fresh ginseng root

Methods / instructions

  1. Rinse chicken and pat dry with kitchen paper towel.
  2. Fill cavity with chestnuts, potatoes, red dates, garlic, ginger and salt.
  3. Close cavity by threading it with skewer.
  4. Place chicken in a high pressure cooker and add remaining ingredients.
  5. Cook for 22 minutes, reduce pressure and cook for a further 8 minutes.
  6. Serve immediately.
