Ingredients /nutrition
- 1 small chicken, cut into bite size pieces
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp chili bean paste
- 2 1/2 tsp ground red pepper
- 2 cups water
- 4 small potatoes, quartered
- 1 diced carrot
- 4dried red dates
- 2 thickly sliced onions
- 1 thinly sliced leek, white part only
- 2 sliced green chilies
- 2 tsp sesame oil

Methods / instructions
- Dry fry chicken for 2 minutes and set aside.
- Mix soy sauce, chili bean paste and ground red pepper in a bowl and return chicken pieces to the bowl. Set aside for 6 minutes.
- Transfer the chicken mixture to a heavy saucepan and pour in water.
- Bring to boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer gently for 18 minutes.
- Add in remaining ingredients and simmer gently for 25 minutes.
- Serve hot.
