Dumpling soup recipe

Ingredients /nutrition

  • 2 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 2 finely chopped garlic cloves
  • 160 g minced lean pork
  • 180 g minced lean beef
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 220 g shredded Chinese cabbage
  • 100 g chopped bean sprouts
  • 120 g finely chopped mushrooms
  • 4 finely chopped spring onions
  • 2 tbsp lightly toasted crushed sesame seeds
  • 160 g round wonton pastry wrappers
  • 2 1/2 l beef stock
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 1/2 cm finely sliced ginger
  • 5 chopped spring onions
  • salt and pepper to taste

Methods / instructions

  1. Heat oil and saute garlic, pork and beef until meat change color.
  2. Add water, cabbage, sprouts and mushroom.
  3. Cook for 5 minutes and stir in spring onions, sesame seed and season well with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  4. Put a spoonful of meat mixture on wonton wrapper and seal with water at the edge.
  5. Repeat steps until all the fillings are used.
  6. To prepare the soup, combine the remaining ingredients in a heavy saucepan and bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer gently for 20 minutes.
  7. Drop dumplings and cook for further 5 minutes.
  8. Serve hot.
