Ingredients /nutrition
- 1 kg beef short ribs
- 100 ml light soy sauce
- 2 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 2 1/2 tbsp crushed garlic
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 150 ml pineapple syrup
- 2 1/2 tbsp cooking wine
- 1 tbsp ground black pepper
- 2 chopped scallions
- 2 l water
- 8 dried Shiitake mushrooms, soaked in hot water for 10 minutes, drained and sliced
- 2 chopped carrots
- 6 chestnuts
- 2 stoned and sliced dried red dates
Methods / instructions
- Combine the first 9 ingredients and marinate for 2 hours.
- Place ribs in heavy saucepan and pour in water.
- Cook over medium heat for 45 minutes.
- Add in remaining ingredients and cook for further 35 minutes.
- Serve immediately.
