Braised short ribs recipe

Ingredients /nutrition

  • 1 kg beef short ribs
  • 100 ml light soy sauce
  • 2 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 1/2 tbsp crushed garlic
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 150 ml pineapple syrup
  • 2 1/2 tbsp cooking wine
  • 1 tbsp ground black pepper
  • 2 chopped scallions
  • 2 l water
  • 8 dried Shiitake mushrooms, soaked in hot water for 10 minutes, drained and sliced
  • 2 chopped carrots
  • 6 chestnuts
  • 2 stoned and sliced dried red dates

Methods / instructions

  1. Combine the first 9 ingredients and marinate for 2 hours.
  2. Place ribs in heavy saucepan and pour in water.
  3. Cook over medium heat for 45 minutes.
  4. Add in remaining ingredients and cook for further 35 minutes.
  5. Serve immediately.
