Sake braised beef with miso dressing recipe

Ingredients /nutrition

  • 1/2 tbsp white miso paste
  • 1/2 tbsp red miso paste
  • 2 tsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp mirin
  • 250 g beef sirloin or fillet steak, cut into bite size pieces
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper
  • 100g sliced onions
  • 3 1/2 tsp Japanese sesame oil
  • 2 1/2 tbsp sake
  • 2 tsp soy sauce

Methods / instructions

  1. Prepare miso dressing by combining the first 5 ingredients in a bowl. Set aside.
  2. Season beef cubes with pepper and mix well with onions and sesame oil.
  3. Heat frying pan and add in beef and onions.
  4. Stir fry until meat is browned.
  5. Stir in sake and soy sauce.
  6. Cook for 1/2 minute and remove from heat.
  7. Serve hot.
