Pepper tuna with wasabi recipe

Ingredients /nutrition

  • 500 g sliced sashimi quality tuna fillets
  • 4 tsp sake
  • 60 ml mayonnaise
  • 2 1/2 tsp wasabi paste
  • 2 tsp mirin
  • 2 tsp sake
  • 1 tsp Japanese sansho pepper
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Methods / instructions

  1. Marinate tuna slices in sake overnight.
  2. To prepare wasabi sauce, mix well mayonnaise, wasabi, mirin and sake in a bowl and set aside.
  3. Drain marinated tuna.
  4. Combine pepper and oil in a baking tray and coat drained tuna.
  5. Heat oil and cook tuna for 3-4 minutes.
  6. Allow to cool and slice to pieces.
  7. Serve on top of daikon and serve with wasabi sauce.
