Beef & onion with rice recipe

Ingredients /nutrition

  • 2 tsp sunflower oil
  • 100 g thinly sliced onion
  • 250 g thinly sliced beef steak or shoulder
  • 1/2 tsp dashi powder dissolved in 125 ml water
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 1/4 tbsp sake
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 5 cups cooked Japanese rice
  • 2 tbsp red pickled ginger

Methods / instructions

  1. Heat oil and sweat onion for a minite.
  2. Add in beef and brown beef.
  3. Add in dashi mixture, soy sauce, sake and sugar. Cook until beef is done per your preference and sauce thickens.
  4. Serve beef with rice and top with pickled ginger.
