- 1 kg mutton, cut into bite size pieces
- 900 ml water
- 12 dried chilies, soaked in hot water for 20 minutes and drained
- 5 garlic cloves
- 200 g shallots
- 5 candlenuts
- vegetable oil
- 3 tbsp coriander powder
- 2 tsp fennel powder
- 1 tbsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 4 cloves
- 5 cardamoms
- 2 cinnamon stick
- 600 g diced potatoes
- 800 ml thin coconut milk
- 150 ml thick coconut milk
- salt
Methods / instructions
- Cook mutton in water with some salt under low heat for 1 1/2 hours.
- Meanwhile, grind dried chilies, garlic, shallots and candlenuts using a food processor or a blender to form a smooth paste.
- Heat up oil and saute grind paste until aromatic.
- Add in coriander powder, fennel powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, cloves, cardamoms and cinnamon stick.
- Give a quick stir and add in remaining ingredients and reserved muttons.
- Serve hot.
