Sour fish curry recipe

Ingredients /nutrition

  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp chopped fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp tamarind pulp, soaked in hot water for 8 minutes and reserve juice
  • 1 tbsp ground coriander
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp ground fenugreek
  • 1 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 500 g fish fillet, cut into bite size pieces
  • 1 tsp salt

Methods / instructions

  1. Blend onion, garlic, ginger and tamarind liquid in a food processor or blender to form a smooth paste.
  2. Add in ground spices.
  3. Heat oil in a heavy saucepan and saute mixture until thickens.
  4. Add remaining ingredients and water enough to cover fish.
  5. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer gently.
  6. Serve hot.
