Ingredients /nutrition
- 225 g basmati rice, washed, soaked for 15 minutes and drained
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 480 ml water
- 2 1/2 tbsp sesame seeds
- 3 dried red chilies, cut into pieces
- 1 1/2 tbsp sunflower oil
- 1/2 tsp black mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
Methods / instructions
- Add rice, salt and water in a heavy saucepan.
- Bring to boil for 2 minutes, reduce heat, cover pan and cook for a further 7 1/2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and set aside for 8 minutes.
- At the same time, grind sesame seeds and chilies using a blender or food processor.
- Heat oil in a heavy saucepan and saute mustard seeds, cumin, turmeric and ground mixture.
- Cook for a minute and fold in cooked rice.
- Serve hot.
