Sweet & sour spare ribs recipe

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 450 g spare ribs, cut into bite size pieces
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp Chinese cooking wine
  • 1 tsp white pepper 
  • 2 lightly beaten egg
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 50 g flour
  • 1 tbsp grated garlic
  • 1 shredded green pepper
  • 450 ml cooking oil
  • 3 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 3/4 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cornflour mix with 1 tbsp water

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Marinate spare ribs with salt, Chinese cooking wine and white pepper. Set aside for 40 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, mix well egg, ginger and flour.
  3. Dip spareribs in the mixture and coat evenly.
  4. Heat cooking oil in a deep and heavy skillet and deep fry spare ribs until golden brown.
  5. Remove from heat, drain on kitchen paper towel and set aside.
  6. Leave some oil in the skillet and saute garlic and pepper until fragrant.
  7. Add remaining ingredients and spareribs.
  8. Cook until sauce thickens.
  9. Serve over with boiled fragrant rice.
