Onion rump steak recipe

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 2 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 thinly sliced onion
  • 1 crushed garlic clove
  • 3 1/2 oz rump steak, cut into bite size pieces
  • 1/4 pt chicken stock
  • 1/2 tsp ginger sherry
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 1/4 tsp soy sauce
  • 3/4 tsp cornflour
  • 1 tsp water

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Heat 1 1/2 tbsp oil in a deep skillet.
  2. Sweat onion until browned, remove and set aside.
  3. Put remaining oil in the skillet and fry garlic until golden. Discard garlic.
  4. Add in meat in the same skillet and cook for a minute. Remove from heat and mix with reserved onion. Set aside.
  5. Using the same skillet, add in stock, ginger sherry, salt, sugar and soy sauce.
  6. Bring to boil, add in cornflour and water. Boil for a minute.
  7. Return beef and onion in the skillet and heat through for 30 seconds.
  8. Serve hot with boiled white rice.
