Glutinous rice balls recipe

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 150 g glutinous rice
  • 300 g minced pork
  • 1 tbsp minced dried shrimps
  • 2 crushed water chestnut
  • 1 tsp crushed ginger
  • 1 tsp finely chopped spring onion
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp caltrop starch
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 3 dash sesame oil

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Wash and soak glutinous rice in water for at least 4 1/2 hours until rice expands.
  2. Drain and place glutinous rice on a flat plate. Cover with cloth and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, combine together remaining ingredients.
  4. Chill mixture in refrigerator for 1 1/2 hours.
  5. Remove mixture from refrigerator and form into balls using your palm.
  6. Insert meat balls into glutinous rice and coat evenly.
  7. Steam balls using a double broiler for about 15-20 minutes.
  8. Serve hot.
