Ingredients (nutrition)
For Sauce
- 3 1/2 tbsp tomatos puree
- 1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp chili sauce
- 3/4 tsp sugar
For Fried Prawns
- 1 lightly beaten egg
- 3 tbsp flour
- 2 tsp cornflour
- 1 peeled and finely chopped root ginger
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 75 ml water
- vegetable oil for deep frying
- 720 g cleaned and deveined large prawns
Preparation (instructions)
- To prepare the sauce, mix all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and pour into a sauceboat. Set aside.
- To prepare the batter, combine together egg, flour, corn flour, ginger, salt and water until form a smooth batter.
- In a large saucepan, fill with oil and heat up until oil is very hot.
- Dip prawns into batter and deep fry in hot oil until they are golden brown.
- Serve hot with prepared sauce.
