Fried prawns recipe

Ingredients (nutrition)

For Sauce

  • 3 1/2 tbsp tomatos puree
  • 1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp chili sauce
  • 3/4 tsp sugar

For Fried Prawns

  • 1 lightly beaten egg
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 2 tsp cornflour
  • 1 peeled and finely chopped root ginger
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 75 ml water
  • vegetable oil for deep frying
  • 720 g cleaned and deveined large prawns

Preparation (instructions)

  1. To prepare the sauce, mix all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and pour into a sauceboat. Set aside.
  2. To prepare the batter, combine together egg, flour, corn flour, ginger, salt and water until form a smooth batter.
  3. In a large saucepan, fill with oil and heat up until oil is very hot.
  4. Dip prawns into batter and deep fry in hot oil until they are golden brown.
  5. Serve hot with prepared sauce.
