Fried roselle leaves recipe - Chin Baung Kyaw

Ingredients (nutrition)

  • 6 peeled garlic cloves
  • 2 onions
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1½ tbsp dried shrimp powder
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 6 bunches shredded roselle leaves
  • 1 tsp shrimp paste
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 5 shredded bamboo shoots
  • 4 green chilies

Preparation (instructions)

  1. Pound onions and 2 garlic cloves using pestle.
  2. Combine chili powder with paste.
  3. Roughly grind dried shrimp using a food processor. Mix together with remaining garlic.
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet and add in turmeric powder and chili paste until golden brown.
  5. Add in roselle leaves, shrimp powder, shrimp paste, water and cook for 12 minutes before adding remaining ingredients.
  6. Cook for a further 4 minutes.
  7. Serve instantly.
