Ingredients (nutrition)
- 3 lb chicken chunks
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- ¾ tsp salt
- ¾ tsp turmeric powder
- 3 peeled onions
- 4 peeled garlic cloves
- 1 in peeled and pounded ginger
- 1½ tsp chili powder
- 4½ tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 pt water
Preparation (instructions)
- In a large mixing bowl, combine together chicken, soy sauce, salt and turmeric.
- Pound 1 onion and 3 garlic cloves with ginger and chili powder and rub on chicken.
- Thinly slice remaining onions and garlic and stir in heated oil in a pan.
- Sweat onions and garlic for 8 minutes, stir in chicken and pounded mixture.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes until chicken is browned.
- Add in bay leaves, cinnamon and water.
- Bring to boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
